And so… we are not expensive, comfortable in a soft chair with a table, free Wi-Fi throughout the train journey 🙂 we traveled in 3 hours from New York to the capital of the United States of America — Washington city.
Washington in 2 days — what to see?
The train from New York arrived at Washington’s Grand Central Station — Union Station.
A beautiful station in the very center of the city and a 13-minute walk from the Capitol or the United States Capitol and the famous, repeatedly seen in American films — National Mall.
After the noisy and buzzing New York, Washington amazes with its sedateness and solidity, greenery and leisurely pace.
Our plan included 2 days to get to know Washington, although of course we could have spent longer here. We were pleasantly surprised by the information about free museums in Washington; when traveling with five of us, this is not a small saving.
In Washington our goals were: — walk around the Capitol, United States Capitol www.visitthecapitol.gov, of course 😉
— walk along the National Mall — a wide, well-kept park stretching from the Capitol to the Abraham Lincoln Memorial, past the White House with the National Christmas Tree or National Christmas Tree thenationaltree.orgin front of it, and back to Washington Central Station — a little later, on the advice of friends from New York, we included the National Air and Space Museum on the list of must-sees in Washington, and couldn’t resist visiting a real spaceship and the cockpit of a modern Airbus, and seeing the collection of airplanes and space rockets of different times.
Already walking around Washington, we realized that it was easier and easier, of course, to go around the city on excursion BIG BUS buses, its route includes: Capitol Hill, the White House, the Washington Monument, the Jefferson Memorial, Arlington Cemetery, the National Cathedral, Ford’s Theater, as well as There are several other routes around the city, but this is for those who come to Washington for a longer period. Of course, we would have spent money on tickets for BIG BUS, but we would have saved a lot of effort, and the list of things we didn’t see would have been much smaller.

We didn’t see it in Washington 🙁— Museum of Natural History (which everyone of course saw in the famous «Night at the Museum 3»), Museum of American Art, Museum of the American Indian, US Portrait Gallery… and 7 more museums located along the National Mall. Allocating a day and a half to explore Washington, of course, was a mistake 🙁 You can spend several days here interestingly and with pleasure.
