Boston what to see?
It was expected that this would be the most boring material on my blog… because it’s hard to watch anything when everything is closed… because we arrived in Boston on Labor Day, or Labor Day 🙁 celebrated every first Monday in September, and in 2018 it fell on September 3… BUT!
On Labor Day, as ironic as it may sound, almost nothing works 🙂 We were not ready for this, and the plans had to be adjusted, as they say, on the fly.
So that such a surprise does not happen to you, I present on the blog a list of National Holidays in the USA. Be sure to take a look at this list when planning your trip to America.
BUT!
We were lucky, firstly, with the weather, and secondly, with the fact that on this holiday weekend we found ourselves in Boston, a city that can be interesting to see even on a day off, even without guides and guidebooks .
All you need to do is get to Boston Common — a cozy park in the very center of Boston, where you could basically stay and spend a wonderful day off, boating on the lake in the center of the park, or having a picnic right on the green grass.
By the way, Boston Common Park, and this is our third luck in one day 🙂, it turned out to be just a 5-minute walk from our hotel in Boston, and we booked a very good deal no more no less — Hyatt Regency Boston!
I’ll say a little about this hotel located in one of the skyscrapers in Boston… Well, from the rooms and halls of this hotel there was a stunning view of downtown Boston!
I will post below a few photographs, unfortunately not of the best quality, taken through the hotel windows day and night.
It turns out that by choosing Hyatt Regency Boston for accommodation, we saved on visiting the Boston Observation Deck, which is open to visitors on the 50m floor of the Prudential Tower — the tallest skyscraper in the city.
Hyatt Regency Boston
The hotel is undoubtedly well equipped, the hotel rooms are new with huge beds!
And most importantly, the hotel is located in the old district of Boston, or as it is also called, the capital of New England, surrounded by parks, theaters and unique old architecture.
So, as already mentioned, a 5-minute walk from the hotel is Boston Common Park — which is the starting point of the Freedom Trail, or Boston’s Freedom Trail.
For those who don’t know, the Freedom Trail, or Freedom Trail — This is a path lined with red brick, moving along which around the city you will see all the main 16 architectural and historical landmarks of Boston.
This wonderful gift for those coming to Boston, making it easier to get to know an unfamiliar city, was created in 1951 according to the idea of William Schofield.
We didn’t see 🙁
in Boston
- Fenway Park Stadium — home stadium of the Boston Red Sox baseball team
- Sam Adams brewery where they tell for free about the history of the brand of this famous Boston beer
- Prudental Tower observation deck, where from a height of 229 meters you probably have a view of the city of Boston
- joking monument «Make way for ducklings!» Park Common
- Christopher Columbus Waterfront Park… it’s probably sooooo beautiful there…
Boston what to see? Of course, we could have stayed in Boston for another day, but our plans were to see Harvard University, located in the nearest suburb, of course.
Harvard University
Legendary Harvard University — «pink dream» all high school students who are in the process of choosing their future path 😉 in our family there are such «for marriageable» two…
Having read somewhere the information that almost all graduates of this eminent and expensive University already have work contracts in their final years, it firmly stuck in their heads, hence the idea to visit this forge of the best minds.
We went to the town of Cambridge, where Harvard University is located, the next morning. Cambridge is located so close to Boston that from the car window it is not even clear where the first one ends and the second one begins.
Entrance to the Harvard campus is completely free. If you wish, you can join a group with a guide that regularly departs from the info point.
Yes, we walked between the buildings of the university, looked at the patchwork-like notice board for students, looked at the streams of rushing students with puzzled faces, took a photo near the statue of John Harvard…
but, to be honest, the expected feeling of delight and penetration did not happen, probably visiting Harvard is not enough, you need to live it…
OK… visited… tick 😉
This is what Cambridge is like
