Our family’s third trip to America was inexorably moving toward the end. Initially we thought of holding it on the ocean coast. But after scrolling through many booking offers and not choosing anything, we chose the Hudson coast.
The hotel was chosen due to its location right on the territory of the Bear Mountain State Park and next to the Hudson River, and photographs in a rustic hunting style… how we love 😉
Overlook Lodge at Bear Mountain
Overlook Lodge at Bear Mountain is located on the shore of Lake Hesse; next to the Hudson River; 89 km from New York and the airport;
The Bear Mountain Hotel has a rustic style with wooden furnishings, perfect for a relaxing outdoor getaway
In the end it turned out that the hotel, lake and park around — This is all that is available. The holiday here was based on the «entertain yourself» system, which you don’t expect in America, where everything is usually organized and thought out 🙁
Therefore, in one day we managed to: feed numerous wasps on the hotel’s breakfast terrace, walk 3 times around the, I must say, very picturesque lake, swimming in which was for some reason prohibited, and the boat station was also closed, examined a naive mini-zoo located nearby , studied the hotel’s gift shop in detail, and longingly awaited the next day, having absolutely no idea what we would do to entertain ourselves.
When in the morning, fending off wasps, we were studying Google maps, ready to embark on a foray in search of impressions so as not to waste the day in idle idleness, we noticed emerging activity in the open space near the hotel. Imagine our joy when this sluggish movement within a couple of hours turned into a wonderful, interesting exhibition of old mobiles.
About 100-150 vintage cars gathered in one place, in excellent condition, cleaned to a shine by their owners — fanatical lovers of all this antiquity on four wheels.
Without expecting it, we found ourselves on a real colorful American holiday, with a river of beer, country music and positive communication, united by one passion of people.
That was great!
